Riders start a journey in the app. Their phone does the rest.

The phone follows the trip
During the journey, location checks show the rider at the boarding stop, moving along the route, and at the stop where they got off.
Commuteur's server checks the evidence
It rejects fake-location apps, trips with too little location data, tracking that doesn't match the trip's times, and rides faster than any train or bus could go.
A certificate is issued
Each verified trip gets a certificate code on the rider's receipt, and its miles and CO₂ are added to the totals on this page.

For each verified trip: the emissions of driving the whole distance alone, minus the emissions of the trip as taken. Walking counts as zero.
